Hi, how many types of SPICE are there? what are the differences between Pspice and Hspice or other types of spice? thx

Re: SPICE

The basic SPICE calculating software is done by a US university and is paid for by the US government. Commercial companies combine their unique interface with this code to make their product. PSpice is a very user friendly product with some limitations caused by its automatically doing things that are good most but not all of the time. HSpice has a more complex interface and much more user selectable settings. It has the best performance possibilities with a skilled user. Many other companies add RF type synthesis abilities.

SPICE

The SPICE tech is invented by berkeley, the core of various kinds of spice software is based on the original berkeley tech.

SPICE

so how many types of spice are there? and what is the most popular one? is it hspice?why?

SPICE

There are many versions of spice out there. hspice is popular because it provides better model parameters before. But now most of the simulator are based upon BSIM. Basicall, it is the sim speed that differentiates the different versions of spice nowadays.

SPICE

See for yourself how many SPICE-like programs are on earth at **broken link removed**, this is only some of popular ones.

If you want to know it work, this is a good introduction. "SPICE - A Brief Overview" http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~jan/spice/spice.overview.html

What make each Spice different? It would be its features and algorithm used to find out the solution. Hspice is successful in this field becuase their engineers work out so much in developing both circuit soluble equation and transistor modeling.

AIM-Spice , 5SPICE , HSPICE , IS-SPICE , PSpice , SPICE OPUS , Super-Spice

HSPICE is more powerful

Added another spice to above: Smartspice from SILVACO

Re: SPICE

There once was a Dr Spice which may still be offered.

SPICE

ADiT from EverCAD. AN1 heard of it?

Yeah, and hspice support Unix, linux and windows platform! So, it is much more flexible for us to implement it!

SPICE

Hspice is better than smartspice, Hspcie is more accurate. For them, RF simulation is disadvantage.

Re: SPICE

Winspice is also pretty.
