How does frequency hopping work in Bluetooth? I would like to apply a basic form of frequency hopping to a little wireless network I'm working on.

You would probably do well to download the information from the FHSS (frequency hopping spread spectrum) chipset manufacturers and study it. Texas Instruments has a complete set of documents, including a reference design schematic at:
https://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/fo...S=NotApplicable+PR+sc05082#technicaldocuments

Look through all the technical documents at the bottom of the TI page. You'll get an idea of what is necessary to implement your project.

And while you are thinking about spread spectrum, always remember who invented it - the lovely and intelligent actress Hedy Lamarr. :)
