Hi all,

Anyone mind to share..

1. How come a device such as network printer or ip cctv camera can have ip address?

2. Is it those devices are equipped with special module to make it operate int he network? What is that module?.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if I understood you question correctly.

1. The devices can get their IP address via DHCP, so you should have a DHCP server somewhere in the network. Sometimes, it is not you that supply this DHCP server, but the company you have contract with (for example, cable TV or internet provider). Other option is set its IP address manually. In this case, consult the device manual.

2. They must have a Ethernet PHY (it is a component) and a processor/controller that interfaces with this PHY. This processor or controller usually stores the IP address. The most common situation is that this is part of the whole system, and not a separated module.

Thanks for your reply..Meaning that, there are dedicated system (Ethernet PHY + controller + I/O) that makes those device can connect to the internet and control that device.

Only I suggest but I am not perfect on-
1. When you have two or more devices (Network Cameras, computers, printers, etc.) on a network which connects to the internet using a broadband router.
2. Hardware security modules can be employed in any application that uses digital keys. Typically the keys must be of high-value - meaning there would be a significant, negative impact to the owner of the
key if it were compromised.
