Hi there
Filter with Aperture.jpg
Consider this image, top structure is part of a filter, red rectangle illustrates aperture on the ground and gray rectangles are microstrip and bottom shape is sth I create in Layout (yellow rectangle = aperture / pink rectangles with mesh = microstrip line)
Here is my question: can we have the Schematic of this filter, I mean draw this filter with aperture in layout (which sth I can do like I explained ) and convert it to Schematic for optimization?
I tried but I could not, can sb give me a lead?
Thx alot

This is very easy using the Graphical Cell Compiler. This enables you to create a parameterized version of your layout with Stretch macro functions and others to scale the values of W, L1, L2, d and any other parameters as required. Then you can create the look-a-like symbol with these configured parameters. Then Momentum could be used to analyse the new scalable layout to build a suitable model or optimize the layout parameters for some specific performance.

The Graphical Cell Compiler (GCC) is a tool within Advanced Design System that makes the job of adding parameterized artwork to a layout an easy process. The GCC can benefit Productivity Engineers as well as Circuit Designers:

For Productivity Engineers, the GCC greatly simplifies developing a library of parts for use by circuit designers. Various parts can be developed and debugged much faster by using the GCC than by developing the AEL macros themselves. Of course, if engineers do know how to program in AEL, they can use AEL to do further customization.

Circuit Designers can use the GCC to create a special model quickly, without the need to know any AEL.

The whole process is too long to document here but if you go to the ADS on-line help and look under Design Tools > Graphical Cell Compiler or just search for Graphical Cell Compiler you will find many pages of explanation including worked examples.

Thx RealAEL
I really need to optimize W, L1, L2, etc..seems GCC to be great, isn't it?
And I saw GCC help of ADS but you know through the document I need to use Macro menu sth I can't find! what's wrong with me?
Could you help me?
Thx again

You should be using ADS 2009, ADS 2009U1, ADS 2011.10 or ADS 2012. It was not supported in ADS 2011.01 or ADS 2011.05.

Note
Graphical Cell Compiler (GCC) is not supported in ADS 2011.01 and ADS 2011.05 release.

In ADS 2009/2009U1 layout window Macro menu.

In ADS 2011/2012 layout window under Tools > Macro.

Really thx buddy..
But how bad, I have ADS 2011.01 !!!
So there is nothing I can do with it, is it?
I do need optimization...using Nominal/perturbed is not very interesting, you know..., what do I do??!!
Anyway thx again
