How can I tell if my laptop screen is LED or LCD?
 

Your laptop has LCD panel (as every laptop has).
Difference is only in backlighting. It can be LED or CCFL.
In last couple of years, all laptop panels are with LED lighting.

There are laptops with OLED display.

Thus I recommend to look into the operating manual of the laptop or consult the manufacturer's internet pages.

Backlighted displays, whether CCFL or LED back light when viewed in a darkened room with a flat black screen, will have some light leakage.

To determine whether it is CCFL or LED, you would have to open up the display and look for the back light supply. If it has warning signs or electrocution icons all over the place, it will be a CCFL, as they require several hundred volts to operate.
 

Best way to be sure is to read the spec as suggested. Any laptop bought in the last 3 or 4 years is almost certain to have an LED backlight.
