c8051f0xx project

I got a silicon laboratories MCU C8051F005.
I want to compile a program onto it but I don't have its offical burner/debugger.
Another other methods that I can burn the program onto the MCU?

Thanks in advance.

Check first if it has internal EEPROM or FLASH so at least you can know you will not use anymore external memories.

C8051F005 got
- 2304 Bytes Internal Data RAM
- 32k Bytes FLASH; In-System Programmable in 512 byte Sectors
Silicon laboratories said that this MCU is in the Mixed-Signal 32KB ISP FLASH MCU Family.
Is there any possiblility I can burn the program without offical burner?

Thanks in advance.

There are some ap notes how to design a programmer ,But i advice you to buy their inexpensive dev kit for around $99 .The reason is that with it you can also debug code .And with one kit you buy you can use the denugger with all families ..!

I see.Thanks for your reply.
However, my project budget is about US$130.
If I buy the cheapest dev kit and the MCU I need, I'm afraid the project will over budget. As you mention about the ap notes, may I know where can I get the ap notes as reference?

Thanks in advance.

Ok look at their web site for ap an005 ,an009,an012 and most important an017 .wich is the interface Dll . Look hard first .i know that now that the company changed hands they have pulled out a lot of technical stuff .
Otherwise and only then come back and i will post it .Ok!

Do you mean the application notes AN105 ,AN112 and AN117 in the following website?
h**p://www.silabs.com/products/microcontroller/applications.asp
If so, I will have a look on it. But there is no AN109 as well.

Thanks in advance.

I read about the application note
But I don't know the pin connection between the MCU and the serial cable
May anyone tell me about the pin connection of C8051F005?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Si labs Development kit comes with a serial adapter plus a stuffed board.I have recently purchased one.The main feature of the kit as far as I understand is the serial Adapter also called as Emulator Cartridge which with the help of JTAG interface provides non intrusive, full speed in-circuit debugging fesility. The flash programing is done via that interface.
these chips have got a internal digital crossbar which helps in assigning peripherals to port pins.
What is the cost of chip alone? i have purchased the whole unit.
