As far as I know there're not many IC design jobs in Australia, but still there should be some - A friend of mine is currently working in Perth (ASIC verification).
There are few companies in Australia that deal with RF design. A well known company is Codan: www.codan.com.au They have constant demand for RF/Microwave Design and Testing Engineers
