High Frequency Sine Generator(30MHz)

Hi folks,

I need to create a signal generator with quite good stability at 30MHz frequency(would be better if frequency can vary too). Which is the best component to use in this case?(I had a look at crystals and crystal oscillators).

Crystal oscillators are suitable for this aim . creating a Lower frequency and then a multiplier would be a good idea too . using PLL can be excellent idea too .

Thx. I know that crystal oscillators would be suitable but I still do not know how would it work.(Had a look at couple of video with a +5V Vcc, ground and Output which gets a sine waveform). Would that be that simple?
I had a look at Pierce circuit oscillators and couples other circuits. However, I have not deal with oscillators before in practical. Is there any start step that would be great for me to prototype something which will create the sine waveform.

Also as you mentioned the multiplier would be a good idea. Would it be just the couple of OP-Amp connecting to each other?

For the (Phase Locked Loop)PLL, I never heard about it but it won't hurt if I learn that :p

Which one would be the easiest solution for a beginner in this situation?

Very hard to answer. There are various alternatives for an 30 MHz oscillator: With BJT or opamp, with RLC or RC or crystal,..
One critical point that has to be clarified is the question of tunability. You have mentioned that it "would be better" to vary the frequency.
This is a dominating point and has to be clarified first.
Therefore: Is it necessary to vary the frequency? In which range? By which means (mechanically, electronically) ?

Yes the frequency need to be varied.
Range of frequency:20MHz - 50MHz
Mechanically( a dial)
