Hello! I am very new using HFSS and I have encountered some problems when trying to feed a simple microstrip line. I've used a driven modal solution type and wave ports.
Trying to find the right way to feed my structure I've made a parametric analysis of the wave port's dimensions. Looking at the reflection coeficient S11 I can't decide which dimensions are correct for the port. I've chosen the width of the line and the thickness of the substrate so to have a 50ohm line at 3.5Ghz. I'm expecting to see a minimum in S11 at around 3.5Ghz. This doesn't happen for any of the dimensions chosen. I've read most of the documentation posted on this group, but when using the rule of thumb: 4Xthickness by 5Xwidth, the response is not at all the one I expect.
Could anyone please help me? Thank you!

Hi puionte
why don't you use lumped port? I think for wave port exitation, you should chose your port dimesions for dominant resonance frequency

I hope it'll be helpful

Read this file. It contain information about definition port size
