HFSS Lumped Port for HALFWAVE ANTENNA

Hi Guys!

I am trying to simulate a halfwave antenna.
I am not sure about my port definitions.

Attached is what I did:
It is a lumped port that connects the signal line on top to the ground plane below.
The FR4 layer and airbox is hidden here.

Is this correct?

Also could you help me on MESHING?
- what does it do exactly? what does it really mean, to MESH?
- is it necessary for me to manually mesh?

1. The lumped port looks OK to me.
2. "Meshing" means dividing the structure into small tetrahedrons so that it can be solved by finite element analysis. HFSS automatically creates a mesh and then adds/removes tetrahedrons to optimize it. Usually this automatic mesh is OK. In certain situations you want to constrain the mesh in a certain way, for example, to accurately calculate resistive losses in an inductor or transmission line.
