Hey everyone.
I'm a Junior Hardware Developer at a Brazilian Company called Data Traffic.
I need help to design a DC Converter.
Its specs are:
- Vin: 12V
- Vout: 24V
- max Iout: 5A
A colleague suggested I use a MC33063.
Page 10 of its datasheet shows a configuration with a BJT attached to the output (https://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/attachments/mc34063a-d-pdf.115438/).
The thing is its peak output current is 1.5A (6th page of attached datasheet).
Maybe placing some other transistor in its output will allow some larger currents?
Or maybe I should go in a different direction?
MC33063/34063 is one of the cheapest switch mode controllers on the market and has rather limited performance, e.g. simple hysteretic regulation, low efficiency. Suggest to select a recent switch mode controller offered by major manufacturer's search engine, e.g. TI or Linear.
usually on the internet sites of switching regualtor IC manufacturers you find an interactive selction guide to choose the best controller for yor application.
