Help reqired in using EEprom.

hi

I am working on a project in which I have to use EEprom, I have to store some numeric No. against some names. I dont know how to do it? I am using ATmel 89c51 microcontroller with EEprom. I dont know how to make relation b/w name and numbers and how can i (next time when reqired) recall these numbers against their name on LCD, can any one help in this regards or tell me a suitable site with this project.

I need to store fine names (6 letters each) with 8 digit numbers. I am using asm51 compiler.
