Help regaurding Sensors

Sir,

My self Praveen .I had a project in my mind, that is to design a visitor counter for shopping malls. my requirement for this is i have to display total count(Entered and leaved from mall).I had no idea about sensors which works in such environment(where its detection range should be around 10 t0 20 feet's ). Please guide me to a good sensors.

Thx in advance

All you need is a Up/Down dounter triggered by two IR sensors getting an IR beam emitted from two IR led's. When beams get intrupted by any person in a sequence, the same will trigger the up/down count of the counter and display the same on the display. IR led's and sensors like TSOP1738 will work fine for the specified range. Cheers

Re: Help regaurding Sensors

this is a difficult task, unless you can ensure that 2 or more people don't pass through th doors at the same time. An intelligent camera system could be made to do this, using labview (with some shape detection and movement algorithms) and some acquisition system for example.

Hi

The best way to do this project is to use a video camera ,DSP and an image processing software

This type of project is not advisable for a beginner - it is very complicated one where you need to run image processing algorithm over a video incoming signal

All the best

Bobi
