i am designing a pci peripheral card.... has anyone come across any cheap pci slave ic... i have also looking for a good online material for pci hardware design.. anyone please
 

What about the PCI-bridge SAA7146A from Philips? It is a very popular PCI bridge used on many DVB-S cards. It allows easy interfacing with I2C, Intel (ISA like), Motorola (68000 like) etc. There is even a ready-made generic driver for SAA7146A devices (at www.majority.nl -> DVB-S project page).
