external compensation lm301

Hi
Could anyone please tell me what are the dir\fferences between op Amps lm301 and lm741, and whether they are interchangable in a circuit.

Also, what would happen if the pin 1 of these op amps (offset), were grounded?

Please help.

Thank you.

741 battery charger circuit

LM301 needs external frequency compensation in most applications. It can provide higher bandwidth than LM741 at higher gains and also higher slew rates. I don't think, that any of the said amplifiers will be used for new designs since decades.

Grounding pin 1 prevents operation of both amplifiers, I think.

301 op amp

The LM301 is used in a battery charger circuit where grounding pin 1 turns it on.

Grounding pin 1 of a lousy old 741 opamp stops it from working.
