Hi all,

I need to implement simple UART on FPGA and microprocessor interface with fpga .. for this I need to go for the cheapest FPGA.
preferably Xilinx. Can anyone please suggest ?
I gone through the data sheets of spartan 3 but I dnt want the device to go obsolete in near future ?
Any suggestion would be regarded as grt help.

Thnx

The manufacturers will usually ship the parts for 20 odd years. At my old place we were still shipping boards with flex10k and apex devices (from the mid 90s) and they were supported in software until 15 years after release. But they still provide the old software on the website, so you'll always be able to compile.

Usually, as stuff gets older the costs can go back up again as they get harder to source.
