Please tell me why there is second derivative with Mass "m" and First Derivative with Damper "b"

Hi,

Without having the book here in front of me, it looks like you're summing up forces. Using F=m*a, acceleration a is the second derivative of position. And the force from a damper is proportional to velocity, the first derivative of position.
