I want to make a smart active residual current circuit breaker(Rccb)

if rccb trip offs, we manually switch on the rccb. here our purpose is to automated the above process. Also we have to replace all electrical components to electronics

for that purpose we expected to use pic or atmel.

traditional RCCB has a current sensor to detect residual current. this residual current can range from couple of mA to several A(1000 A). we should be able to detect 30mA to trip off the RCCB. The expected IC or electronic component ( to replace current sensor) should be able to with stand for high current also. (Q1)My question is what is the best component to detect the residual current.

Also we need to measure the residual flowing through the current sensor. because different residual current requires differnt amout of tripping time.
Eg: 30 mA - 40 mS(maximum)

this measuring component should be able interface with PIC to
1. measure the residual current
2. required tripping time
3. cut off the AC power supply
4. to identify the reason for tripping

Q2- what is the suitable electronic component to measure the residual current

Q3- how to program the pic when residual current is varying with the time (residual current is an alternative current). How to identify the value residual current and required tripping time.

Current to external circuit (Live and neutral wire) is controlled by solid state relay which is also controlled by the PIC. For swithching unit, is it possible to use solid state relay?

Before switch ON the RCCB automatically, we hoped to send a small DC current (about 25V, <10 mA) through the house circuit (instead of 230V, several A) to identify, still whether is there any connection between Live or Neutral with Earth. by sending a small current is it possible to detect the reason?
