motorola transistor numbering system

please can any one help me to get a replacement for mototrola transistor 9642?

motorola is a specified company looks difficult to get a replacement


this transistor i found in Lexar80 Radio communication station , plz help

From my experiance, I would say that the number 9642 refers to the date of manufacture. Year 1996, week 42. Not a lot of help. Also a manufacturer sometimes buys in a lot of transistors etc with their own inhouse numbering system. If you have a knowledge of the circuit in which the device is used, it may be possible to guess a replacement.

thank you for your replyinf iam really approciate this from you , but iam askin why motorola used to hide the parts names ??? by the chance i repair my radio transiver by changing it in regular transistor c945

it just a bad thing when you think to repair with motorola , is theres any notebook or user manual , sites to explain the names of motorola ???
