ic5141 install

i have succeeded in installing IC5141 USR5 on RHEL 5.1 and Scientific Linux in 64 bit mode from the original cd media without any modification to the installation script of ic5141.
this is how i have done. it is very lengthy and hence i am calling it dummy's installation guide. the reapply or inputs are in bold.

ic5141 usr5

I download the base version and got is installed on my SUSE OS..

everything went fine even i checked by using the installed products option and come to know.

now the problem is that i need to install the licence configuration utility and when i run the setup file it asks for installing the installscape. When i say yes it starts initializing but gives a error later as below

java: xcb_xlib.c:52:xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion 'c->xlib.lock' failed. Aborted

1) how to install the license utility.
2) how to run the installed products because i m new to this type of operating system.

ic5141 rhel5

log in as root and then delete the .lock files from user account.
you have crashed the license manager while using it, some files are in lock state.

centos 5.3 ic5141

I could install cadence ic 5141 on RHEL 4, I also could install it on RHEL 5.2 but I have an error about glibc2.0, If you want to us cadence in RHEL5.2 you must to uninstall its glibc2.0 and install an older version of it on RHEL5.2 ;)

rhel 5 ic5141

Hi, i've install Scientific Linux 5.2 on VM and then IC5141, but i get the GLIBC error when i try to run icfb. With LD_ASSUME_KERNEL i don't have solved the issue. Is it possible that's my version of IC5141 is too old (i.e USR3) ?

ic5141 sun4v isr

use usr5 and above. they are compatible with kernel 2.6

Thanks Hock, I've got only the license for IC5033 and i didn't find USR5 in the "network".

this is amazing, rarely did I found people are patient enough to write down towhole procedures

configuration of lfvhdcomp

i have done it so that others can benefit out of it. most of the users on this forum are college kids who do not know system admin and cadence installation.
it was successfully done at a time when cadence was advising a tar ball option from old machines. i do not know if they still know how to do it.
glad that you think it is useful.

cadence ic5141 configuration

Hi hock ,
thanks a lot for the procedure, i followed the same and got IC5141 installed on RHEL 4 ( after fighting for a long time ) one of my friend helped me to set up RHEL on my pc.

1) Now my problem is to understand your last sentence
"Use the attached start-up file to load cadence"
Since i am new to linux i dont know what you mean and how to use the start up file.
2) i would also like to know the procedure to install the license file.
3) how to run the application. since i am windows user, windows creates icons and we have to simply click. what i understand about linux is that we hav to execute the BIN files now how to do that and which file.

It will be very help ful if you can let me know the procedure..

for 1 copy the file to your home directory.
use the command "source startup_file_name"
2) the bashrc or cshrc file contains the location of license. the variable CDS_LICENSE_FILE points to the license file. if your license file is located at \opt\cadence\license.dat
then
export CDS_LIC_FILE=/opt/cadence/license.dat
export LM_LICENSE_FILE=/opt/cadence/license.dat

open a command windows in bsh
type source ic5141_cshrc
type lmgrd-c /opt/cadence/license.dat
you should see the licenses.
