GSM/GPS via Microcontroller

Hi guys ,
Im willing to do a project for vehicle tracking using GPS & GSM Modem via a Microcontroller.
Im still gathering information about tht and the problem is
On what basis can I choose the GSM Modem , GPS Receiver & Microcontroller types, tht is needed only for my requirements ?

All what I need to do is to get the data from GPS Receiver by the Microcontroller and send it to a Mobile phone using the GSM Modem.

Would u recommend certain models which meet my requirements?
Also , I need a guide to know how to start and proceed in the project
do u recommend certain articles or so tht I should read to start effectively?

As you don't have specific requirements, so any combination will be Ok for you.
for understanding what to do
there were a very good article on circuit celler it can be a good start.
you need to understand
-your micro controller
-AT commands for GSM modem you are using
-NMEA or SIRF format to understand the how to parse the data you get from GPS.

do you need this info for graduation project or business project?
you should know that online tracking using GPS and GSM is not allowed in Egypt without permission from NTRA

My requirements r , on my request while Im away from my car , the microcontroller will demand the data of car location from the GPS receiver , get it , and send it to on my mobile phone through the GSM Modem through AT commands

MC & AT commands r ok with me ,
For MC , i did b4 projects with it ,
& For AT commands , I read well abt them.

you should know that online tracking using GPS and GSM is not allowed in Egypt without permission from NTRA

I knew tht GPS has been activated this year through NTRA ,
I shall ask abt whether I need permission , and if its needed , I shall contact them , but do u think they will give me this permission for a graduation project ?

Another thing is tht ,
I didnt deal b4 with GSM Modems or GPS receivers
So can u recommend a certain type for me
or give me examples for their types ( names ) available in Egypt, and can help me do the project.
