gps data logger protocol ??

hi all,

i'm currently design a gps data logger
gps data logger device will receive the nema0183 and analysis it and store data to be log to pc .
my problem is :
i need to know what is the protocol that i can log to pc to be used with the most comman mapping programes such as waypoint from Garmin.

NMEA is also supported by most PC GPS related applications, like Autoroute Exress, Route 66, etc. Use it for both GPS-> datalogger and datalogger->PC.

The mapping software directly interfaces with the gps receiver. What you may have to do for offline testing is just capture the data as it is on the hyperterminal and use it.
