Getting started w/ ASICs

Hi Folks,

Could anyone recommend a good book on ASIC design basics? Also, what is the best tool/software that you can suggest?

Re: Getting started w/ ASICs

you can just search here for asic and you will find many answers but I will recommend to start first with the design flow

Re: Getting started w/ ASICs

hi,
ASIC HANDBOOK is a good start for a overview.
as for tools, it's very expensive.

Getting started w/ ASICs

Certainly, you must hold a HDL. For Verilog, <Verilog HDL -A Guide to Digital Design and Synthesis>(2nd, Samir Palnitkar) is a godd choice.

Read
ASIC by John S. Smith.
Its a very well structured book, a must read !!

Re: Getting started w/ ASICs

pick a topic b4 u pick the book

in standard ASIC, there are: verilog coding, synthesis, static-timing analysis , floorplaning, place n route

in custom design, there are: hspice simulation, schematic entry, layout

pick a book depend on which flow u want to go.

Re: Getting started w/ ASICs

u can refer ASIC Design by HimanshuBhatnagar

there are lots of books about asic design. at first ,you must learn hardware description language, then the design flow you must held.
