antenna gain hfss

Hi All,

I'm getting low gain such as 1.5 and peak directivity such as 3.5 after drawing rectangular patch antenna in Ansoft HFSS.

I was expecting to get about 15 dB. But I getting low gain such as 1.5 .

Could anybody advise me where is the mistake?

Urgent! Urgent! Urgent!

Waiting your reply.

low gain of patch antenna+hfss

that depends on your material and shape. So post your project file

Hi

If you just have one patch.....15 dB is never gonna happen!!!
More around 8-9 dB.

Hi ,

I am not able to attched the hfss format so I attached the diagram in doc format. Could you advice me how to attached the hfss file to you?

I have done the patch antenna using ansoft hfss v9.1 .
The material that I want to use is fr4 and wanted to design for 1.5GHz. I'm getting 1.5dB in peak gain through compute antenna parameters icon. Its very low. I have attached the file .

I have used this tutorial patch antenna( it was duroid substrate) which I took from website and I modified it to fr4 substrate.
Kindly help me. I would be very grateful to you.

Waiting for your reply.

Thank you.

Saran

Hi Mr. Tyassin & Mr. Zirtapoz,

Could you give me your email id so that I can send the hfss file in email?

Waiting for your reply.

FR4 is very loosy material. So you can not obtain good results. (Look for loss tangent)

And also try to elevate your structure(put some air between dielectric and ground plane. it makes magic about gain :)

Hi,

I need to design for 1.5GHz for rectangular patch antenna. And getting peak gain of 1.5 .

Am I doing the correct way in the simulation? I'm using Ansoft HFSSv9.1.

Is there any other way to find the gain?

Please let me know.

Urgent!

Thank you.

Hi,

If I got peak gain about 2.13 and peak directivity about 6.2 .

Which one should I see?

Hi,

I got ur reply in my mail but I can't open your updated HFSS file since my HFSS is v9.1 .

Could you tell me what are the other ways to open your file?

i dont know how to convert from 10 to 9.2. But you can adjust your coax metric using link below.

**broken link removed**

Also as i mentioned before u need to modify your structure for 1.5 Ghz.

Good luck
