FPGA board and VHDL project definitions

hiii.. I am doin MS in Coputer science..

This sem, I need to implement a project on FPGA borad using VHDL. platform i will be using :Xilinx ISE9.2i.. board: spartan2..

Can u suggest me some definitions?? the project should not be too tough or too easy.. like I may implement any algorithm on the GPFA board.. which will run faster than the case if it had been implemented in software..
I have some rough ideas about definitions: like any cryptographic method algo, any communication protocol algo.. or even i can go for a game, but it will be tough. so, not thinking for that..
So, can u help me fiding an algo to impement?? the level of project should be of master's level.. not tougher than that..
