Hi all!

I have a problem with the footprints in protel and OrCad.

I have done a conversion from my OrCad386 Schematics, PCB's and Libraries to OrCad dsn (9.2), Protel, Altium and Pads Flow.
Opening a Schematic and PCB's is not a problem.

In OrCad386 there are no "footprints", but "First part field". I copied the content of First part field to "footprints" in OrCad and imported the *.dsn file to Protel.

At importing a *.dsn into Protel, i get this Error/Warning-Message:
Code:
         OrCAD Capture Import Log:

            Current document: Imported APO1000.DSN\APO1000.SCH
Warning: SheetPath of part at (490,840), changed from to _1
Warning: SheetPath of part at (490,770), changed from to _2
Warning: SheetPath of part at (340,730), changed from to _3
Warning: SheetPath of part at (300,690), changed from to _4
Warning: SheetPath of part at (500,690), changed from to _5
Warning: SheetPath of part at (230,690), changed from to _6
Warning: SheetPath of part at (200,850), changed from to _7
           Imported with warnings!

         EndLog

Now when i want to create a netlist from my schematic, it gives me the following:

Is this a good/working Netlist?

To create a PCB from it, i read that i have to load all my libraries into Protel, create a new PCB-Document and load the netlist. When i do that i only get two resistors in my PCB-Layout, and they're not connected either.

Does anyone of you know where i can search for a mistake or error?

If you need any further information regarding the schematic or pcb, please let me know.

Thank you in advance, i appreciate your help very much!

Best regards, Walter

Hi,
generate netlist like that tools-->create netlist-->others-->in that select orprotel2.dll from for-matters (before that you need fill the Protel PCB footprint )

if you convert schematic from orcad to protel i have not any idea about netlist

Hi!
Thanks for your help, that has already brought me one step further.
Now i'm facing a new problem.
When i want to load the netlist into the PCB-Layout (Protel99SE), the following errors occur:

ACTION: Add new Component D1 ERROR: Footprint DIODE75 not found in Libary.

This happens for all Devices except the two resistors in my circuit.

As i converted the Libraries from OrCad to Protel, i have a Question: Are the "footprints" of the components stored in the SCHEMATIC- or the PCB-Library?
Because Protel wants to load them from the PCB-Libs, and i think they are stored in the SCHEMATIC-Libaries.
Am i right?

Thanks for your fast help!

best regards, Walter

Hi, can u give me an advice how to do that? i'm new to orcad and protel.
Normally i just do eagle layouts, thats way easier than this!

best regards, Walter

EDIT: I just figured out, that my PCB-Libraries don't contain the Footprints for the components i want to import there.
Thats weird, because the Libraries come from OrCad386, and there everything worked perfekt.

Now the question is, how do i put these back in? where are they stored normally?
Thanks!

Hi ,
please follow below method,
1.open your schematic file and then select project manager then edit-->Browser-->Parts or select schematic Right click edit Properties (new window open select the pcb footprint ,enter the protel footprint )
2.new window popup, select reference column (new window has reference,Value,Page,Source part ) Ctrl+E -->Browse spreadsheet open, enter the Protel footprint in PCB footprint.
3.Generate protel netlist
4.give the footprint path in your protel software (i don't know protel)

Hi, i just solved my problem. Fortunately i had the finished *.pcb file, which i converted to a libary and loaded into the PCB-Libraries.
Thank you for your help.

Best regards, Walter

Me Again,
now i have a final problem. I need to convert my schematics and PCB's to pads
flow that another person can work with it, and then i have to convert it
back
FROM PADS FLOW TO ALTIUM/PROTEL/ORCAD.

Does anyone of you know whether this is possible?
It would help me very much!

Regards, Walter
