Hi
I am working on a flyback smps. I found an application note on this. In that they found primary inductance of transformer then found alg value then find the gap to grind an ungapped ferrite core. My doubt is can i wind the required turns and then grind to get the required primary inductance instead of measuring the gap. I have attached the application note with this (an1024)

i have a spreadsheet that will tell you the inductance but it won't tell you the increased inductance due to fringing flux and all that.
so in practice, you will be building a few prototype transformers and grinding the cores down, then later measuring the gap.
