Hi!

I have a FLUKE 85 III True RMS Multimeter. With the following DCV specification

"Accuracy ... ± ([% of reading] + [number of least significant digits])
For model 87 in the 4½-digit mode, multiply the number of least significant digits (counts) by 10."

"Display: Digital: 4000 counts updates 4/sec; (Model 87 also has 19,999 counts in 4½-digit mode, updates 1/sec.)."

"mV (DC), Range: 400mV, Resolution: 0.1mV, Accuracy (for FLUKE 85III): ±( 0.1% + 1)"

QUESTIONS:
1. For a 400mV signal the % of reading is = 0.4mV but the number of least significant digits is that 0.1mV or 1mV?? giving a total accuracy of ±0.5mV or ±1.4mV?

2. For the 87 model in 4½-digit mode (my assumption is that model 87 is better than 85) multiplying the least significant digits (counts) by 10 results in a worse accuracy, or?

Thanks in advance
/P
