Hello, I do not have any knowledge of DSPs I have just started to study them for the speech based application I am doing as my college graduation project. Now I am supposed to do it on a development kit and I can't invest more than $100 and I found this one
But, my project guide says that programming fixed point DSPs is difficult as you have to take care of carry, word length effect, over flow error etc.
Is this correct? My guide says I should go with a floating point DSP but I couldn't find an evaluation kit as bellow $200.
So, can anybody tell me where to find an evaluation kit or you reckon I should proceed with the fixed point DSPs? Also, please tell me difference in both these processors in terms of programming.
Thanks alot.
Some matrix calculus requires a big amount of recursive multiplying and divisions operations.
If your applications needs some resolution, it can be achieved better with DSP ALU, once you can work with a wide range of numeric values.
Of course, compiler can easily implement some casting if the CPU core does not support FP operations, but this will require more precessing.
