I have used This wiki page (C/C++) to build my state machines but they are slow and clumsy. I have been using massive matrix's for the states and then arrays of void pointers but its horribly inefficient.

For example I made a 26 item character LCD menu and It took up 6k of space which is insane!

I have trouble following the point to a pointer and void pointer logic and am getting really confused. Can anyone recommend some good books, examples, or tutorials on how to make much more efficient FSM?
