Fingerprint recognition using neural network in java

I have found the fingerprint images database in internet. how do i can convert the bitmap file to array by using java? This array will be my input value for training neural network right? What kind of the material regarding this can let me refer? Thanks

Yes, the image array will be your input to train your neural network.

I don't know how to convert the image to array in Java, as i use MATLAB, but I think sure there is a function to convert a matrix to array.
