final year project

hello sir,
i m a final year student with electrical and electronics engineering disciple. I want to do a project on control of ac motors using MSP430 microcontroller. Actually i m installing MSP430 &#180c to overcome the limitations of using 8051 µc or any other µc for the control of motors.
Could you please suggest me whether my idea is erect or not? Also help me with how to use this MSP430 so that i can overcome the limitations of other µc.

Re: final year project

It is not better than other microcontrollers used for motor controll application. It is probably not in a short list of the best. You may need to check, but I do not think that the MSP430 has any dedicated PWM modules...and you'll need these to generate the 6 gating pulses if you want to control the induction motor.

For example, TI's C2000 series is better because it has the dedicated PWM channels. And since you'll need a lot of resources, there are plenty of codes on TI's website for motor control application if you use the C2000 micros.

Before using the MSP430, check to make sure that it can be used for motor control application. It might not be.
