i want to design a filter.it need to protect lightning and need DC Pass Current.
i think they are conflict.how can i put the axe in the helve.or give me some book.
thanks very much.

The folllowing descripion may protect ONLY regard the inducted energy.
The most used schematic to put between PowerSupply and Load (the apparatus) is:
1) SERIES: a low value, high power resistor
2) SHUNT: gas discharge tube
3) SERIES: a low value, resistor
4) SHUNT: semiconductor like zener, traszorb, varistor etc.

The gas discharge tube ( a neon lamp) set the voltage no more that 70 V and may absorb many KiloAmperes for few hundred of microseconds.
