hi,

Is it necessary to include filler to seperate each io pad?

Siva

Hi,

Most of the time the pad are designe to be able to butt with one another.

A good practise when you are using a new pad library is to pnr a design with only the pad ring. Then run drc/lvs on the pad ring design.

ya ,.. you need IO filler which is different from other filler... between pad cells and Pad Corner cells at edges....

they are used to form pad ring....
they are necessary in design..

filler/cut is inserted between normal pad cells.
The main purpose is just as pad-ring wire routing.
The padring is often include jtag wires, esd wires,
NVDD/QVDD wires ...
They are necessory for design and helpful for LVS.

Io fillers are required when there is two different adjacent IO cells are present.
Suppose long skinny IO cell next to fat Io cell.

And also when IO cell need to work with different voltage from core voltage to support the interaction with other chip u need to use transition I/O (filler cell)
