Hi all,

I'm programming MSP430F20xx with the ez430 USB Stick. Since last day, my laptop is not able to recognize the dongle and I can't flash the UC anymore.
Does anyone know what I can do to debug the USB Stick or what kind of problem could it be?
Is there an other way to flash MSPs?

Thanks for reply...

Do you experience similar problem with any other USB device ? If yes, than check if there is any USB device conflict using nirsoft usbdeview.

Thank you for reply.
No I never get this kind of problem. I change the computer, same problem, the dongle can't be recognize. I had a pup-up "the USB device is unknown".
From know, the dongle doesn't create any "pup-up", no bip from the laptop when I plug it. The oscillator osillate, there is no bad soldering problem... I can't understand. May be the code is corrupted, I don't know. I guess the dongle dead, but I don't know why :(

Hello Fabien!

Try to reinstall the drivers, it may help.

In case you have fried the device for some reason, you can have the same functionality
with the Launchpad board. And the advantage in this case is that you can either program
directly on the launchpad with more I/O than on the stick, and you can still program an
external device using SBW (Spy Bi-Wire) by removing the proper jumpers and soldering
a 6-pin 1.27mm connector.

Have fun!

Dora.

Hi Dora, thank you for your advice!

I guess the driver want change, nothing happen when I plug the dongle, no "bip", nothing. But the device still provides 3.6V and oscillate (crystal on the little board).

I don't have the launchpad, it looks like the dongle as we can see the TUSB3410, the crystal... I also used the dongle with home made cable using SBW to program my MSPs. My be the launchpad could be a convenient alternative. I'll see if I can get one cheepest than dongle.

Thanks,
Fabien

Hello!

The LaunchPad 430 used to be 4.30 USD. I bought 20 of them at that time because it's very
convenient to make a quick experiment. But I heard it became a bit more expensive.
Probably less than the dongle which was (if I remember correctly) 28 USD.

Dora.
