You have to interface multiple ethernet PHYs with your FPGA, you have to define the intended switch operation
(switching on which ethernet layer), you can possibly reuse existing ethernet MAC (and if applicable, IP layer) designs
and add the switching logic.

Hi, you can check this project: http://www.netfpga.org/
It's an open plattform to implement network devices. They use verilog but you could easily translate it to vhdl.

can you provide me some details of design like what are the basic steps.... i want o implement it in Xilinx platform ...
