I am using OrCAD PCB Editor(version 16.3) and my layout house is using Allegro; sometimes I got error message of "ERROR(SPMHDB-181): Database revision 14.x is too old ... must run dbdoctor." by trying to use the layout house' library. Does anyone know what is going on? and how can I make this work or how can i upgrade db doctor.
for the more information i had upload following image.
I also tried to convert the library using dbdoctor, but i struck there which file should i attach there in the below options.
1. with input design with extension(wildcards supported)
2. output design(optional with 1 output design)
you did wrong here that's not a dc doctor that's a dbdoctor or like a dc doctor is there or what ?, Another thing is what is the out put file, output file means that IC library file or what please tell me.
what it meaning Database revision 14.x is too old means update the tool or what and from where should update this (path) ?
hi,
sorry for wrong entry. this error happen due to your file is made in 14.X so you need to update that one.start-->cadence product-->pcb editor utilities-->db doctor.
select the input file-->your board file (file type choose .brd)
output file--->you can give same file path or path may be different
and then select (drc error,shape,xnet)
after that check it

I was having this same problem. The issue turned out to be an old PSM file for a part that had the same name as the new part that I had just created. If you search in the directory where your part is saved for 'PLCC84.psm', delete it, open 'PLCC84.dra' and then re-save it, OrCad will create a new .psm file and your part should load in your board.
