error in opening layout(locked file)

Hi
i just have a problem in opening the layout file (can't open it for edit but for read only)
and i notice this warning message in terminal "warning file/root/cd.log file is already locked by some other process)

So please, do anyone have any solution???

probably cds.log instead of cd.log... in any case you have 2 options:
- exit all cadence sessions under your acct, remove all $HOME/*.cdslck files
OR
- use clsAdminTool from a terminal

you mean all of your layout files have been locked for read-only ? or just some of them?

a) cds.log file already locked by other process - you have running another session of cadence somewhere. If you do not try to look for the process and kill it (or restart the computer) or try " kill -9 " to kill every process in your account
b) if ANY view can not be opened for edit but just for read - it is locked by another cadence process. Or your cadence crashed and left cdslck files in the folder "layout" or "schematic"
easiest way is to delete those files in unix. Got to the layout folder (in shell window) and delete all files which have cdslck in them. Then you should be able to reopen in edit mode
