Does anyone know of any interface IC's or schematics for what some call an "eraser head"; pointing stick; IBM calls it a TrackPoint; that is used in laptops as a mouse in the keyboard?

The "nipple" controller is made by Philips. I don't remember the part-number. You should check out their web-site for datasheet.
