EDA GUI design: Tk vs Java

Hello,

I have to design a GUI for c++ application to be used with EDA tools.

Which language/scripting/tool-kit/library/etc are good for such GUI design.
We short listed Java and Tk, but still unable to converge on one.

Pls, suggest pros and cons for this on following criteria:
1. ease of learning and programming
2. Ease of development and debugging and maintenance.
3. Powerfulness - on which perspective.
4. connectivity with C++ and TK/Java.
5. Open libraries available for such development
6. Power of Eclipse+JAVA vs Tk-toolkits.
7. connectivity with EDA tools.

Pls, also advice some pointers for such analysis, and add more criteria for such comparison.

if the application is implemented in C++ why not use a C++ GUI such as Visual Studio (Windows only) or wxWidgets (cross platform) or Qt (cross platform)

there are also a range of GUI building tools such as wxSmith

will the existing C++ application be a seperate program from the front end if so how do you communicate with it? e.g. TCP/IP, shared memory, pipes, etc ??
