I want to segment an ECG image (attached) and want to extrcat ROI from that image which is basically an abnormal section of that sample (can be seen in the sample attached).
I have already converted this bitmap to 1D image

U should use a transform i.e CWT or DWT
are U familiar with wavelet?
to extract a feature from a non-statinary signal we can not use FT or STFT
we should use wavelet transform to analyzing it

please clarify ur point of view because i don't know much about WT and how can i use WT to solve me problem.

dear friend
i 'm sorry for my delay
Are U familiar with Wavelet Transform?
it's a good tool for processing many kind of signal such as ECG,EEG,..
first U should be familar to the fundamental theory of this Transform
and then u can use available algorithm to feature extraction a kind a abnormality
at this time i'm working in similar project
if u want more help about WT pls inform me

I used Data base in Physionet.org
and i want convert the records to Matlab reabale format(ecg.mat)
i want to conv from a/d

can help me????????

Hayfa! If you open help of Matlab 6 , you will find solution in C code by only seach this word "mat" . And Wavelet Transform is faster than FT ? Why? How many better than? Somebody may advice this.

if u got a solution pls send me too at:revathy.srdhr @gmail.com

I am too working on extraction of QRS and all other fiducial points from the ECG grid paper.
I saw some of the in-trend, I think, algorithm to detect the R-peak in this paper.
"R-wave Detection Using Continuous Wavelet Modulus Maxima", Legarreta et al.
I think you can work with the modulus maxima.

I will try it too.

Good luck
