Hello,

Ive just done gerbers for a 4 layer PCB, and it has produced a file called "drill.dri" -do you know what this file is?

Also, do you know why the "drill" file doesnt show up in the viewmate gerber viewer...i used the "excellon" thing in the CAM job, and selected "drills" and "holes" but nothing shows up in the gerber viewer.
-is the gerber viewer not meant to show the drill file?

It is just a tool drill list. As the information is actually in the .drd file (which is the real drill file) it isn't required. That is why a Gerber viewer will ignore it. It is the .drd file you need to load. You might have to manually select the number of decimal places - Gerber viewers seem to make a guess and don't always get it right. To check this, just load the drill file and see what size the Gerber viewer thinks the board is.

Thanks, but i done see a .drd. file.

Eagle has chucked out a file called "drill" and a file called "drill.dri"

How do i get the ".drd" file

Zip them and upload them here. I am not sure why you don't have the normal extensions but it should be easy to tell what is what.

thanks, i am afraid to open up the drill file as a text document, because it might then take on the txt icon, and the pcb manufacturers will not like that?

i just tried to upload the drill files and edaboard window says "Invalid file".
