HI ALL,
I AM FROM INDIA. I WANTED TO DESIGN MY OWN CALLER ID BOX. I CONSULTED MY TELEHONE SERVICE PROVIDER, WHO GAVE ME A HINT THAT HE IS USING DTMF CALLER ID SYSTEM. I DESIGNED A DTMF DECODER FOR DECODING THE CALLER ID DETAILS. BUT FOR SOME REASON IT IS NOT RESPONDING.BUT THE SAME DECODER CKT WORKS WELL WHEN I DIAL FROM MY TELPHONE. :?:
I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE DTMF CALLER ID PROTOCOL. CAN ANY HELP ME IN EDUCATING BOUT DTMF PROTOCOL.
I can't expect what is happen on your device, you say nothing about your job.
Here is some information may be can help you : Caller ID FAQ
Detailed information on Caller ID, explaining the hardware and software requirements, and reviewing dozens of Caller ID programs. https://www.ainslie.org.uk/callerid.htm
hi,
thanks for your post.
i am an embedded engineer. i want to design a caller id decoder ckt (for indian telephone service providers ) with PIC16f877a.
now that i have got sufficient documents i should be going fine. i will try it and reply you back.
Thanks.
hi ,
The DTMF decoder ckt that I designed using CM8870 is not able to decode the caller id information from service provider(In india), but is able to decode DTMF from my phone (when i dial).
I bought a local made caller id box(Eurotel CID 8089) to check the pattern (it is FSK and DTMF compatible) it works fine.
These are the characteristics of the ring i observed with the caller id box(Which i bought).
Name of service provider : Airtel (Indian provider,PSTN)
Rings: first two rings are short. After that,it rings like normal ring.
Information: the caller Id box displays information of phone number, only after first ring and before third ring.
These characteristics make me think that it may be of fsk standard.
I even tried a circuit with MC145447 caller id chip for FSK caller id, but still of no use.
Now i am confused whether to design ckt based on dtmf or fsk. please help me...... :?
Any indian reading this, can you please tell me what standard does Bharati or Airtel or BSNL follow.
Hi,
Thanks. i read that. But, the biggest doubt i have is ,what standard is used by service provider(Airtel, Indian pstn provider), either FSK or DTMF.
I am not sure weather i going on the right track.
I used CM8888 and MT8870 for detection of tones during the phone call (tones transmitted by the other side duringthe call) but never treied it for callerID purpose
anyways, try 2 look at this page and more important check the links in it.
