rj45 console connector

Hello friends

I want connect rj45 connector to Rx ,Tx Uart on minnowboard .
I connect RX ,TX Uart to 3,6 pin rj45 .I have image shell unclear.
can suggestion a solution .I have not cts and rts on uart .

Re: rj45 console connector

Page 16 of 22 shows UART signals **broken link removed**

You can add any connector (hot glue) instead of cutting up RJ-45 tracks used for UART>USB
such as RJ-11 and wire your signals to match at both ends like RTS,Rx,Tx,CTS

then cut and jumper RTS=CTS to disable USB interface or add dip switch.

Be careful of power sequence between CMOS ( to prevent latchup) and use series 5~10k and TVS for ESD protection at each end or better use RS232 chip.
THis will limit speed on long cables. 40pf/m

Re: rj45 console connector

As discussed, you may not be using RS232 on your console, so measure Tx V and use level shifter if necessary. e.g. 220R series to 330R to gnd. for 5V to 3.3V

Buffer flow control is best to include connection between RTS >CTS DTR>DSR otherwise loopback at both ends and hope Rx is fast enough.

Then use interleaved grounds or twisted pairs for each signal Rx Tx.

This should be good for 1m at max speed.

Beware of ground noise between systems and use braid wire if necessary.

Good Day
