I have a tft display 5'' ( 480 x 272 ) and i want to drive with a cheap 8-bit controller.

So i choose the FT800Q from ftdi. The price of this is around 2,5-3 euro

This only need spi communication.I just now make practice with this IC.

Does anyone have experience with this IC?
Is there any other similiar IC which more function or cheaper?

I dont have experience with this chip, but have designed using AMLCD VGA chip by Kopin into an eye display and circuit design around this using FPGA. (world's smallest TV/PC wearable display circa 1998 in a monocle called the M-1 was my design

Since Chip supports 20Mb/s SPI for 512x512 and 480x272 has 50% of those max pixels, you will need at least 10Mb/s for SPI to support decent frame rates. Keep this in mind when looking for SPI drivers.

**broken link removed**Looks like a great chip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3trUUc-tFKY&feature=youtu.be
