Doubt regarding SOC encounter

cell utilization in encounter

Hi all,



I am new in SOC encounter. I wanted to know what could be good number for density in encounter to start with ? Some ball park number so final routing and clock synthesis will not have many issues wrt slack. Or is there a way we can decide upon that start density number.

i did not understand ur question . Wht do u mean by density? Please be bit more specific.

Hi,

What I meant by density was cell utilization factor.

i think ur asking for core utilization area. If that is what ur asking:

u start ur design at import netlist with 60-75% for logic opt and DFM and keep 80% at the stage of DFM for adding spare cells and filler cells and after doing ECO's u will get 100% utilization at tape-out.
