i need to simulate a person exploring a room..thus perform both linear(moving around) and tilt (changes his view angle) motion..

what should i use?
accelerometer to measure tilt and linear motion
or
gyro for tilt and
also gyro for linear, but in the form of an accelerator(asin on mode 1 use gyro for tilt, on change to mode 2 i can use tilt in a particular direction as a linear motion in that direction)..

i want the user to have a near real experience..
thank you

Refine your requirement specification first :
You need the current position of the person (x,y)
You need the current velocity of the person (vx,vy)
You need the current acceleration of the person (ax,ay)
You must assume that the person may move and look in a different direction ; look angle
You can assume that you know the start position of the person (xstart, ystart)

Now you can move to the solution domain an pick sensors and algorithms
