What is Dot Net all about?

Explain so that somebody that does not know about computing will understand.
 

.NET is a software framework developed by Microsoft ".NET Framework - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" for windows (OS) applications, web applications, handheld devices etc.

As an example for its programming languages C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET "Microsoft Visual Studio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia"

Many examples, source-code are available in different webs. "CodeProject - Your Development Resource"
