Are both ABEL and AHDL "dead" languages?

I'm just wondering, because Xilinx tools still support ABEL, and Altera tools still support AHDL.

Yes, we still use it once in a while for supporting small, legacy designs. But its simulators were always awful, so we've been migrating to VHDL for blow-and-go, or better tools if we need to simulate first on bigger projects.

I'm trying to find a decent Abel to VHDL conversion process now.

Yes, we do use ABEL yet. It is simplier to understand and defind a PLD designs without timing, implementation and technology-independent designs.
