distspec matlab

dear all,
can someone please help me how to calculate the distance spectrum for RCPC code using matlab? Matlab has this command: distspec(trellis,N) which returns the distance spectrum of a trellis, but i still can't figure out how to use it to return the distance spectrum of an RCPC code.
